Basil Dark Opal
Basil Dark Opal is a bold basil with a richly purple leaf. Its deep colour adds a dark edge to any garden bed and is a lovely contrast to plants with brighter foliage. Its flavour, though not on par with the culinary basils, is still good, especially when the young leaves and shoots are harvested earlier.
Sow – mid September to December (Cool Climate – in a hothouse in Mid Sept to October). Needs bottom heat 21C minimum if started early.
Spacing – 30cm, great in pots.
