Basil Lettuce Leaf
Basil lettuce leaf has large leaves up to 12cm long and almost as wide. This annual grows to 40cm tall and has crinkled leaves with that sweet basil flavour (though milder than the true Italian Basil). The size of these leaves means one leaf goes much further than other basil. Great in pots also. When planting outside in a cool climate, place some black plastic down, cut an X and plant into that. High soil temperature helps the plant over early summer.
Sow – September to December. Needs bottom heat 21C minimum if started early.
Spacing – 30cm, great in pots.
