Broad Bean Coles dwarf is a popular variety for the home gardener. Pods are approximately 13.5cm long and 2-3cm wide with up to 5 seeds per pod. Flowers are purple and white in colour and produce a brown seed.
This plant grows to approximately 80cm high which is useful in windy areas. This variety is a little shorter in plant height and earlier in maturity than Aquadulce.

Broad beans have a long tradition of cultivation in Old World agriculture, being among the most ancient plants in cultivation and also among the easiest to grow. Along with lentils, peas, and chickpeas, they are believed to have become part of the eastern Mediterranean diet around 6000 BCE or earlier, however their wild ancestor has not been identified and their origin is unknown.
Germination: Optimal Soil temperature is 14 to 20 C (will germinate at 5 C but is slower)
