Bush Bean Gold Rush

Bush Bean Gold Rush was released in 1980 and is one of the best yellow butter bean performers.  Plants are very productive, hanging heavy with beautiful, straight, slender pods which are easy to see amidst the green foliage.

The beans are crisp, exceptionally tender and perfect for a light steaming, sauteeing or freezing for winter use.

Cool Climate: OCT – JAN (late NOV can be better if cool)

Temperate: SEPT – FEB

Sub – Tropical: APR, AUG – NOV

Tropical: MAR – AUG

Arid: MAR – MAY, SEP – NOV

  • Do not sow when soils are still cold, look for a week of 20 degrees ish

Spacing: 15cm apart, rows 30 to 40 cm.

The common bean is a highly variable species that has a long history of cultivation. All wild members of the species have a climbing habit, but many cultivars are classified either as bush beans or dwarf beans, or as pole beans or climbing beans, depending on their style of growth.

Germination: Optimal Soil temperature is 24 to 26 C (around 7 days to germination)
