Cabbage Copenhagen Market
Cabbage Copenhagen Market is a Dutch heirloom that is the best ball head open pollinated cabbage I have grown. It forms 20cm diameter heads on a compact plant and can hold well before bolting. Sometimes a seed does not grow true to type (sometimes I get a Brussel Sprout looking one but this is fine for the quality of cabbage).
Have also harvested this in late summer (just pick them at small to medium size to minimise risk of bolting). A very good all rounder.
Sow – November to early March.
Spacing – 40cm. rows 60cm
Cabbage was most likely domesticated somewhere in Europe before 1000 BC, although savoys were not developed until the 16th century AD. By the Middle Ages, cabbage had become a prominent part of European cuisine.
Germination: Optimal Soil temperature is 19 to 24 C (around 5-10 days to germination)
- Approx 500 seed per gram.
