Cauliflower DePurple F1
Cauliflower DePurple F1 is the highest of quality purple cauliflower a home gardener can grow. Produces a purple head with great flavour and friends will be in awe seeing it mature in the garden! This variety is a large cauliflower plant with dark green leaves. Heads reach around 14 to 16cm in diameter (1 to 1.5 kgs) are look a treat on the dinner plate. Colour intensifies with higher light levels.
Sow: December to March (Cool Climate)
Spacing: 50 – 70cm, rows 60 to 70cm (keep well watered during warm weather)
- In the 1st century AD, Pliny included what he called cyma among his descriptions of cultivated plants in Natural History: “Ex omnibus brassicae generibus suavissima est cyma,“ (“Of all the varieties of cabbage the most pleasant-tasted is cyma“). Pliny’s descriptions likely refer to the flowering heads of an earlier cultivated variety of Brassica oleracea, but comes close to describing modern cauliflower.
Germination: Optimal Soil temperature is 18 to 24 C (around 5-10 days to germination)
