Endive Green Curled Ruffec
Endive Green Curled is an old but hardy variety of endive that grows well in cold and wet weather. The deeply cut green leaves are fantastic for garnishes and salads. 30-45cm diameter low-lying, spreading plants. Pleasantly bitter for an interesting salad mix.
Sow: mid August to October, then late January to March (Cool Climate)
Spacing: 40cm.
Chicory is native to western Asia, North Africa, and Europe. The plant has a history reaching back to ancient Egypt. In ancient Rome, a dish called puntarelle was made with chicory sprouts.
