Pumpkin Small Sugar
Pumpkin Small Sugar is a trailing, heirloom mini pumpkin. The smooth textured and sweet bright yellow flesh is ideal to make soups and pies. They are a slightly ribbed pumpkin with a deep orange colour on maturity. An heirloom that was first available in 1887.
Grow to the maximum of around 3 kg in weight and up to 20 cm in diameter. Fruit stores well and are great for market sales and the home garden, pies, and canning.
Sow – Germinates when soil temp >20C. Sow direct when a week of sunny weather is forecast from Nov on. To help lay black plastic down, cut an X and plant/sow into that.
Spacing – 100-120cm (provide lots of water)
Native to North America (northeastern Mexico and the southern United States), pumpkins are one of the oldest domesticated plants, having been used as early as 7,500 to 5,000 BC.
