Squash Cucuzza
Squash Cucuzza – Cucuzza means “very long” which is just how this squash (sometimes known as Gourd) fruits grow. Similiar to Tromboncini. A summer squash variety that grows outrageously quick once the weather warms so you’ll need a trellis to support it. Pick the fruit when they’re about 20cm long. They are edible when bigger however.
Sow – Germinates when soil temp >20C. Sow direct when a week of sunny weather is forecast from Nov on. To help lay black plastic down, cut an X and plant into that.
Spacing – 1 metre (provide lots of water)
Native to North America (northeastern Mexico and the southern United States), pumpkins are one of the oldest domesticated plants, having been used as early as 7,500 to 5,000 BC.
