Sunflower Lemon Rush F1

Sunflower Lemon Rush F1 is a pollenless variety producing lovely flowers with lemon tinted petals and a dark centre. Excellent for cutting. Very attractive to bees and butterflies to your veggie patch. Plant into a spot that has been enriched with organic matter previously as they are heavy feeders (if you want max height). Place a stake and tie to it as the plant grows to protect against the winds. Grows to 1.2 to 1.5m high.

Sow – After risk of frost – November for me (cool climate)

Spacing – 30 cms apart, more for taller plants.

Sunflowers originate in the Americas. They were first domesticated in what is now Mexico and the Southern United States. Domestic sunflower seeds have been found in Mexico, dating to 2100 BCE. Native American people grew sunflowers as a crop from Mexico to Southern Canada. In the 16th century the first crop breeds were brought from America to Europe by explorers.
