Watermelon Sweet Siberian
Watermelon Sweet Siberian hails from Russia and was first offered in the US by Peter Henderson and Co. in 1898. This delicious, extra sweet watermelon, with its apricot-coloured flesh, crunchy texture, deep green rind, and short maturity period is a perfect choice for cool climate growers. The oblong fruits can grow up to 4 kgs!
Produced very well grown in my hothouse and was the first of the watermelons to ripen in the 23/24 growing season.
Please note I accidentally mixed some watermelon blacktail mountain seed in with this sweet siberian seed when packaging in storage. The bulk of the seed is Sweet Siberian however if you end up with a blacktail mountain melon (also an excellent melon) this is why.
When to Sow: Cool and temperate climates on a heat mat in a hothouse or indoors. Germination is higher with bottom heat of 25 degrees C.
